Interested hikers are implored to bring along a picnic to enjoy with views of the Cape winelands before venturing back on the forest single-track in the moonlit sky.

Celebrate love with a sunset hike at Muratie Wine Estate in Stellenbosch on Valentine’s Day (Tuesday 14 February).

The romantic adventure is the second hike to be held by the estate this month. The hiking fun started with Dirtopia’s popular sunset hike on Friday (3 February), with the full moon set to rise over Simonsberg, as hikers picnic at the view point until sunset.

The same outdoor experience is planned for Tuesday 14 February, when the Valentine’s Sunset Hike will take place.

The total distance is only 3,5 km, with the hike to the picnic spot measuring only 2 km (about 30 to 45 minutes).

Here a wine station will serve wines and MCC for participants to toast the start of the weekend.

Hikers are advised to arrive at the Dirtopia Trail Centre between 17:45 and 18:45, with sunset expected at 19:46. Take along a torch, blanket, something warm to wear and closed walking or hiking shoes.

The hike includes a glass of rosé. There will be a coffee station at the trail centre on arrival and when hikers return between 19:30 and 20:00.

A Falke socks hamper is up for grabs in the lucky draw on both hikes.
