A blistering start to the season for Hottentots-Holland CC (HHCC) continues to reap rewards for their first team, which made it three wins from three outings when they hosted Yorkshire CC at the Navy Sports Ground in Gordon’s Bay on Saturday (5 November).
After losing the toss and being sent in to bat, HHCC were on the backfoot as they struggled at 40/3.
Captain Waleed Smith and Fuad Behardien were at the crease and took control of the First Division B game, putting on a mammoth 149-run partnership and taking HHCC to a defendable total of 310/8 in 50 overs.
Smith was the aggressor as he smashed the Yorkshire bowlers around the park, scoring a memorable 131 off 108 balls. He was well supported by Behardien, who managed to score 57.
In the bowling department, young fast bowler Yaaseen Smith grabbed three early wickets to leave Yorkshire reeling. The total proved way too much for Yorkshire and they were bowled out for 146. Mieftaah Oliver (3/5) and Smith (3/21) were the pick of the bowlers.
This Saturday HHCC takes on Edgemead CC (away) as well as Somerset West CC at Radloff Park in the AMA20 semi-final on Sunday.
