The first team of Hottentots-Holland Cricket Club (HHCC) slumped to their first defeat in four games in the First Division B league, bowing the knee to Altius United CC at the Navy Sports Ground in Gordon’s Bay on Saturday 3 December.

The home side won the toss and decided to field, which proved to be a good decision as United struggled on 50/5 largely thanks to great bowling by Imtiyaaz Oslodien (3/25) and Yaaseen Smith (2/36).

United then strung some good partnerships together and eventually ended on 185/9 in 50 overs. Mieftaah Oliver also chipped in with two wickets for HHCC.

In the batting department, the hosts never really got going and were skittled out for a low 113 to suffer a 72-run defeat.

On the same day, the HHCC third team hosted neighbours Somerset West CC in a 3B League derby. HHCC fielded first and were on fire as they bowled their SWCC councterparts out for 56.

Rewayne Viljoen (3/8) and Guillaume Jansen (3/22) were the chief destroyers.

HHCC chased down the target in just six overs as Rasool Thomas (36*) and Dawood Josephs (10*) saw HHCC claim a massive bonus-point win.

The HHCC second team travelled to Surrey Estate to face Ottoman CC on Sunday (4 December).

HHCC fielded first but the home team put on a respectable total score of 202/10. Thomas starred with the ball as he recorded figures of 4/47.

In the batting department, Thomas was again the star of the show, scoring a match-winning 63 runs. He was well supported by Hishaam Slamdien (46) as HHCC cruised to a bonus-point victory.

The HHCC women hosted Milnerton CC on the same day. The hosts batted first and scored a low 67/10, which proved too little for Milnerton, who romped to victory.

This weekend, the HHCC first team faces Kensington CC (away), the seconds host Kuils River CC, the thirds host Bellville CC and the women travel to Durbanville CC.
