The first team of Hottentots-Holland Cricket Club travelled to Stellenbosch to face Maties in a friendly encounter ahead of the start of the cricket season.

Maties won the toss and batted first, and some great discipline and tight bowling from HHCC kept Maties at bay as they were restricted to 119-5 in 35 overs. A lapse on concentration allowed Maties back in the game and they capitalized as they scored 227-8 after 50 overs. Abdul Aziz Temoor (3-19), Yaaseen Smith (2-35) and Shameel Abels (1-19) were the pick of the bowlers.

In the batting department HHCC were never in the game as they only managed to score 52 all out.

This coming Saturday (7 October) sees HHCC first Team travel to Brackenfell for their first ever WPCA 1A League Fixture.

HHCC second and third teams will start their leagues on 14 October while the ladies team will start on 22 October.

Shameel Abels of HHCC gets in some fielding off his own bowling.
