Hottentots-Holland High School recently played host to its fourth bi-annual HHarts Festival.
The festival, which took place from 17 to 19 August, gives learners the platform to display their various talents on stage, and they are celebrated for their contribution to arts and culture at the school.
On the first two days of the festival a variety of acts took to the stage. The line-up included the school’s drum line, who dazzled with an array of beats, traditional dancers who shared their idea of ubuntu, a gifted rap artist, a dance act and an Afrikaans version of Romeo and Juliet with a twist.
Even the teachers took part and were represented by a group who impersonated The Spice Girls. The crowd was mesmerised by the choir’s renditions of “Seasons of love” and “Paradise Road”. The final act of the night was the much-acclaimed drama Chronicles of Katy, which received a nomination for best ensemble cast at the recent Playhouse Drama Festival hosted by Parel Vallei.
The Friday night of the HHarts Festival hosted the fourth season of HH Idols, where the top 10 finalists competed in a singing competition of exceptional quality. The night was a phenomenal success, and Erin Hindley was named the HH idol of 2022.
