Police are clamping down on drug dealing, and a recent arrest shows they are focused on eradicating such crimes.
On Thursday (30 March) around 20:10 two suspects were arrested for possession of drugs in Somerset West.
According to Sergeant Suzan Jantjies, spokesperson for the Somerset West police, a search warrant was issued and executed by members of the Khayelitsha Tactical Team who swooped on a residence in Heritage Park.
She said: “Drugs with an estimated street value of R100 000 were confiscated, and a 30-year-old man and 31-year-old woman arrested for possession of drugs.”
Somerset West Police Station commander Colonel Jacolize Fleischmann commended the officers for the outstanding arrest.
Both suspects were expected to be charged and appear in the Somerset West Magistrates’ Court on Monday (3 April).
