Ward 86 proportional representative (PR) councillor Unathi Lasiti visited Simanyeni High School in Nomzamo in Friday 10 February to engage with teachers and the school’s 1 200-plus learners. According to Lasiti he visited the school to foster a relationship with all stakeholders to assist learners who require state-entity relief to continue and succeed in school. “I have assured the school’s leadership our main role as public representatives is to ensure learners do not drop out from school due to social ills affecting them at home,” Lasiti said. “There are various avenues that are accessible to the community, such as the Department of Social Development, which would be able to provide the relevant assistance required by learners and the community at large.” Pictured at the school on the day (from left) are Hlompo Ramabele (DA youth branch chairperson for Ward 86), Fenny Kambule (deputy principal, Simanyene High), Lasiti and Athini Manxiwana (DA branch chairperson for Ward 86).
