Heartlands Baby Sanctuary marked its seventh birthday last Wednesday (4 May). Pictured are staffers who shared in the celebrations which included eats and treats and a fun-filled apple-bobbing competition at the premises in Old Paardevlei Road at The Interchange in Somerset West. The facility was established on 4 May 2015 in response to the request of the Western Cape Department of Social Development to offer temporary residential safe care and support for children in need of urgent care and protection. The registered child and youth care centre and community mental health facility cares for 25 children at any given time and provides holistic care for orphaned and vulnerable children from birth to six years of age.
