A six-day, 640 km charity cycle tour raising funds for heart health awareness finished its journey at Mediclinic Vergelegen in Somerset West. The tour ended on Tuesday 22 September.

The Revived Pulse Foundation’s annual tour, Le Tour de Spirit of the Great Heart, saw cyclists ride from Beaufort West to Somerset West. They arrived at Mediclinic Vergelegen around 11:45 on the final day.

The tour coincides with World Heart Month and has raised more than R250 000 since 2021. All funds are in support of cardiac patients who cannot afford life-saving medical devices and procedures. The Revived Pulse Foundation was established in 2018 by Faan Botha. He received a life-saving heart device in 2013. His personal understanding of the cost of heart surgery inspired him to create the foundation. He wanted to provide essential heart products and services to those in need. The route started at the Christiaan Barnard Museum in Beaufort West and wound through Merweville, Sutherland, Tankwa Padstal, Kaleo Guest Farm and Paarl before the final leg to Somerset West. Along the way, cyclists covered between 69 km and 131 km per day.

More information on the foundation is available at www.revivedpulse.org.
