Keen gardeners put their green fingers to work at a Heritage Day (Saturday 24 September) tree planting aimed at greenifying Poinsettia Park.
The initiative is spearheaded by The Friends of Poinsettia Park, which joined forces with the City of Cape Town to convert the park into a green community space.
The greening started with the morning tree planting as part of a greater initiative aimed at establishing a vegetable garden and designated picnic areas.
A special thank you was extended to Councillor Gregory Peck and the Mayor for their support, Pieter Appel and his team from the City who dug the holes for the 65 indigenous trees that were planted on the day, everyone who bought, donated and planted trees as well as the Helderberg Sunrise Rotary Club, Remhoogte Nursery, Stodels and Barnies TerraFlora.
