New senseis at False Bay RCFA: Sensei Alex Hon, Shihan Gert Kotzee, Sensei Angelique Nunez and Ushidoshi Joshua Conway.


The Gordon’s Bay Ring Contact Fighting Arts (RCFA) club name has changed to the False Bay RCFA, and its 2023 classes started on Monday 16 January at a new venue in Strand, the George Street Lifestyle Centre at 29 George Street.

At the year-end function hosted in December the new club name and logo were introduced, and students were awarded for class attendance and achievements during 2022.

Christian Theron received an award for the most dedicated student, Alex Hon received a award for best male fighter, and Angelique Nunez received a award for best female fighter.

The following students graded and where awarded their next belt. Mia Theron (red), Anje Gunnink (red) Michelle Terblanche (red), Andre French (red), Abigail Cronje (second blue), Skyla van der Westhuizen (second blue), Albert Nel (second blue), Zeah Stewart (second blue), and Christian Theron (first yellow).

The black belt grading took place at the ChaZen Nature Conservation and Education Center in Vredefort, Free State, and the following students at False Bay RCFA club graded: Alex Hon – 1st Degree Black Belt, and now Sensei, and Angelique Nunez – 1st Degree Black Belt, and now Sensei.

Joshua Conway, graded for his second Brown Belt, is now Red Suit Ushidoshi and qualified instructor.

Under Shihan Gert Coetzee three students who qualified as instructors years ago were graded for their 5th Degree Black Belts and are now Shihan’s.
