The 1st Somerset West Girls’ Brigade took “walking in faith” literally, hosting a 5 km fun walk for their 90th anniversary on Saturday 11 April.

Held at Somerset West Primary School, the event welcomed participants of all ages, symbolising nine decades of ministry. Through God’s grace and dedicated women from Church Street Methodist church congregation, the company has served young girls in Somerset West for 90 years.

Junaidan Gabriels claimed victory in the fun walk, but the real inspiration came from 90-year-old Kathy Martin, who conquered the full distance alongside participants a quarter of her age.

he celebration was filled with laughter, praise and gratitude for the remarkable longevity of this Christian ministry that develops young girls holistically through spiritual enrichment, education, physical activities and service.
