Learners from Helderberg High School crocheted plastic mattresses for clients of the Somerset West Night Shelter. The learners collected and brought plastic bags to school, which were then cut into strips used to weave into crocheted mattresses. The crochet hooks used in the project were donated by Crafters Inn, which also assisted with the collecting of plastic bags. The project was led by teacher Anina Grobler, who provided plenty of new experiences for the learners. At the handover (from left) are Maya Ilgmann, Ayden da Silva, Thandiswa Ngcwangu, Chido Shambare and Simon Negumbo.
