Four suspects will appear in court on Friday on charges of operating a clandestine hydroponic dagga lab in Somerset West.

The suspects, aged 39 to 64, were arrested at a residence in Drakenstein Street on Tuesday (2 May).

According to police spokesperson Captain Philani Nkwalase, the Hawk’s South African Narcotics Enforcement Bureau (SANEB) executed a disruptive
operation as part of the ongoing strides to dismantle illegal drug trade in
the Western Cape.

“Upon
conducting a search at a house in Drakenstein Street, officers of the Hawks discovered a
clandestine hydroponic dagga lab,” he said.

Nkwalase added that numerous cannabis plants and hydroponic equipment worth about R100 000 were seized during the operation.

The four
suspects, all residents of Somerset West, will appear in
Strand Magistrate’s Court on tomorrow (Friday 4 May). – DistrictMail
