The local business was inspired by the initial load-shedding debacle back in 2007, which corresponded with an office move for a sister company, and resulted in the establishment of a backup and solar installation being imported to satisfy the new office’s need. It also sparked an opportunity to assist other companies with a backup solution.
With over a decade of experience in solar importation and installations, ExSolar Solar Solutions has become one of the foremost solar distributors and installers in Southern Africa.

ExSolar specialises in both solar-grid tie systems as well as off-grid systems for both residential, commercial and agricultural use. Whether locals are looking for a system to offset electricity usage or back-up power during rolling black-outs, ExSolar has a customised solution. The business boasts a shop that stocks a wide variety of solar products and accessories needed for installation and maintenance, and 16 employees of which numerous have journeyed with the business since its establishment.
ExSolar is registered with GreenCape, the Sustainable Energy Society of Southern Africa (Sessa) and South African Photovoltaic Industry Association, and a PV Green Cardholder. ExSolar is approved installer and supplier of Victron Energy and Sunsynk inverters as well as Freedom Won and SolarMD lithium batteries.
The business is proud of its new showroom at Nobel Street in Somerset West and welcomes Helderbergers to experience the fully functioning backup system that keeps the three-storey, 1 500 m² green building independent of the power supply giant, Eskom.
