Fatal highway crash under investigation

Grabouw police are investigating a case of culpable homicide after a fatal crash on the N2 highway near the Steenbras look-out point on Saturday (21 September). According to a report, police responded to the head-on collision involving two vehicles, a white Chevrolet Optra and white Volkswagen Polo, around 08:47. Emergency Medical Services (EMS) used the mechanical jaws of life to rescue both drivers, who were trapped in the vehicles following impact. The driver of the Chevrolet, a 50-year-old woman succumbed to severe injuries sustained in the crash. The other driver, a 45-year-old woman, was transported to the Grabouw Community Health Centre for medical treatment. “The circumstances surrounding this fatal crash forms part of the police investigation,” said provincial police spokesperson Sergeant Wesley Twigg.
