The hosting of Helderberg Hospice’s annual Carols by Candlelight event usually signals the start of the festive season in the basin. This year the popular event will again be held at Vergelegen wine estate in Somerset West on Wednesday 14 December. Locals are invited to pack a picnic basket and set up their blankets and chairs on the great lawn of the award-winning estate to enjoy an evening of carol singing and a nativity play. This year’s festivities will be under the music direction of Richard Cock, who will be joined by the Mzanzi Tenors (pictured) and local soprano Melissa Lindoor-Moses. Tickets cost R120 for adults, R80 for pensioners and R60 for children aged five to 16, under fives enter at no charge. Book your ticket at Webtickets or the Marketplace counter at any Pick n Pay store.
