A clamp down operation on illicit drug outlets led to the arrest of a 38-year-old suspect for possession of drugs in Lwandle.
Members attached to Lwandle Crime Prevention Unit executed a search warrant at one of the drug outlets situated in their precinct where the drugs was found. They carefully monitored the specific address which always has drug activities taking place and then applied for a search warrant.
On their arrival at the address, the members searched the house and found 17 Boss mandrax tablets, one quarter mandrax and 23 small plastic bags of dagga stored in a grey plastic bag and an undisclosed amount of cash believed to be the proceeds of crime.
The suspect was then arrested for the possession of drugs.
In an unrelated incident, members attached to Tactical Response Team (TRT) deployed in the Lwandle policing precinct on Tuesday morning 10 January, arrested a 28-year-old foreign national for possession of drugs.
At about 08:55, the members who were on patrol received and reacted on information about a male suspect selling drugs at a premises in Khaya Street, Desert, Lwandle. They immediately went to the address and found the suspect fitting the description given to them in the house. The members searched the house and found drugs hidden in the cupboard. The members found and confiscated plastic bags containing 571 Boss mandrax tablets and five small plastic bags containing tik, with an estimated street value of R22 000.
Once charged, the suspects are expected to make their court appearances in the Strand Magistrates’ court on the mentioned charges.
