Somerset West detectives celebrate murder conviction secured by Detective Sergeant Noluvo Gwagwa.

Swift investigative work by Detective Sergeant Noluvo Gwagwa (left) from Somerset West police has resulted in a 15-year prison sentence for an 18-year-old who murdered his uncle in a stabbing incident earlier this year.

Police began investigating the murder after officers were called to Helderberg Hospital at 21:45 on Tuesday 21 January, following the death of Romeo Snyders. The 30-year-old had sustained two fatal stab wounds to the chest, prompting police to open a murder case.

Within a few hours, police had arrested Snyders’ nephew, Granville Snyders. Gwagwa was assigned to the case and her investigation secured a murder conviction in Somerset West Magistrates’ Court on Friday 4 July.
