De Bos railway bridge almost complete

Construction of the Broadway Boulevard railway bridge between Main and Altena Road in Die Bos, Strand is starting to take shape as the project nears completion. Ward 83 Councillor Carl Punt stated the new road will feature four lanes that will limit the traffic congestion currently experienced. “This will increase traffic flow and is a big improvement to overall congestion in the vicinity,” he said, adding that the contract was started in the previous financial year (2022-’23) at a cost of R48 million. “There was a delay in construction, but everything is now on track.” This financial year (2023-’24) an additional R16 million was approved to complete the contract.
