Thousands of South African men donned purple speedos and took to the streets on Friday 1 November, including at Gordon’s Bay, for the annual Hollard Daredevil Run, raising awareness about prostate and testicular cancer.
Well over 30 participants gathered at Krystal Beach Hotel for their contribution and awareness efforts.
The event, which has been running for 15 years, raises funds for the Cancer Association of South Africa (CANSA) and the Prostate Cancer Foundation of South Africa to support research, awareness campaigns and testing in underprivileged areas. “By wearing a speedo in public and participating in this event, men are demonstrating courage and taking responsibility for their health,” said Allistair Khanyi, Head of Brand and Communications at Hollard.
“Early detection is key to fighting these cancers, and we’re empowering men to prioritize their well-being.”
Hollard encourages everyone to support the cause by donating to the Hollard Daredevil Run Back-a-Buddy page.
Additionally, the company emphasises the importance of insurance to protect individuals financially in case of serious illness.
