The Hollard Daredevil Run is back, and registrations are open for avid participants to lace-up and paint streets purple to run cancer out of town!
The annual Hollard Daredevil Run will once again bring vital awareness of prostate and testicular cancer back to hoods and companies across the country when it takes place this year on Friday 1 November.
Runners from the Helderberg can join other daredevils of the Strand Athletics Club at the clock tower at 16:00 on the day, while participants elsewhere can register for satellite runs on their own or in groups anywhere in the country.
The Hollard Daredevil Run is an annual event where men run through town in purple Speedos to raise awareness for male cancers, specifically testicular and prostate cancers. The 5 km run has been making an impact for over 10 years.
All proceeds from the Hollard Daredevil Run go to the Cancer Association of South Africa (Cansa) and the Prostate Cancer Foundation of South Africa to fund testing in under-resourced areas and increase awareness, support and research.
Testicular cancer is the most common cancer in young men aged between 15 and 39 and can affect men of all races.
The survival rate of stage-1 testicular cancer can be as high as 100%, making early detection and prompt action vital.
Hollard calls on corporates, schools, tertiary educational institutions, sports clubs and communities to enter the Hollard Daredevil Run and play your part in prostate and testicular cancer awareness and increased early detection.
