CSV Construction is bringing its “Build a Dream Soccer Day” back to the community for the second consecutive year, aiming to use the power of sport to unite and inspire local youth.
The event, a Heritage Month initiative, will take place at Gordon’s Bay Primary School on Saturday 20 September.
Organised by Annes van Geems on behalf of CSV Construction, this year’s tournament is set to be bigger and better than its successful 2024 debut. It will feature 22 teams, comprising 16 boys’ teams and six girls’ teams each consisting of eight players representing their respective schools and communities.
The day is made possible through the support of numerous sponsors who have each committed to supporting a team. These companies will provide branded T-shirts, water bottles, lunch packs, and sometimes small prizes for the players, while also cheering them on from the sidelines.
In addition to corporate support, the event has strong community backing. Officials from the City of Cape Town will be in attendance, while ER24 will once again provide medical support to ensure the safety of all participants.
While top teams will be awarded trophies and medals, the primary focus of the competition is on participation and empowerment. Every child who plays will receive a medal, celebrating the spirit of the event and reinforcing the message that “every child is a winner”.
The initiative is inspired by Nelson Mandela’s famous words on the power of sport to unite and create hope.
According to the event organisers, the goal is to build on the foundation of last year’s success, creating lasting memories and a legacy of unity for the children involved.
The day is designed to be an opportunity for young players to be inspired and for the community to come together to “build dreams” through sport.
