Former police officer Dillon Klaasen has been granted R2 000 bail after being charged with allegedly selling classified police documents.

The Somerset West resident appeared in the East London Magistrates’ Court for a formal bail application on Tuesday 23 September.

He was released on condition that he remain within the Somerset West precinct except to attend court proceedings.

Klaasen, a former officer at Kleinmond Police Station, faces charges relating to allegations that in 2023, he sold confidential documents for R10 000 to a buyer who has since died. The case was postponed to Thursday 6 November.
