• Die Strand-polisie is op soek na drie verdagtes in verband met ‘n rooftog by ‘n bekende kitskos- restaurant in Gordonsbaaiweg, Strand, die afgelope Sondag (11 Mei). Luidens ‘n polisieverslag het die voorval om 18:45 plaasgevind toe die skofbestuurder van die restaurant opgemerk het dat een van die werknemers na agter gehardloop het, gevolg deur ‘n rower, terwyl die res van die werknemers na buite gehardloop het. ‘n Tweede rower het na bewering ‘n vuurwapen op die skofbestuurder gerig en haar gedwing om die kasregisters oop te maak. Toe sy dit oopmaak, het ‘n derde rower geld in die geldsak geplaas. Die drie rowers het na die agterkant van die restaurant gehardloop. Indien iemand meer inligting oor die voorval het, word hulle versoek om die Strand-polisie by 021 854 9100 of 082 850 9628 te skakel.
  • Lwandle police are investigating a case of culpable homicide following a fatal accident involving two vehicles during the early hours of Saturday morning (10 May). According to a police spokesperson, members responded to the collision on the corner of the N2 highway and Hazelden Drive in Somerset West at 06:50. “Preliminary investigations indicate that the driver of a white Toyota Cressida disregarded a red traffic signal, resulting in a collision with a bus that had the right of way,” the spokesperson explained. “Tragically, the driver of the motor vehicle was pronounced deceased at the scene due to injuries sustained upon impact. The bus driver survived the incident unscathed.The spokesperson further divulged that the deceased was identified as a 39-year-old man from Grabouw.
