Wet weather caused widespread disruptions across the local club cricket landscape at the weekend, leaving several sides with abandoned fixtures while the first teams of Hottentots Holland and Helderberg cricket clubs both suffered setbacks in their respective clashes.

In their First Division B Ama20 match played on Sunday 18 October, Hottentots Holland (HHCC) were handed a seven-wicket defeat by Wynberg CC.

After Wynberg won the toss and elected to field, HHCC were bowled out for 83 in 17.3 overs.

Top scorer Fuad Behardien (31) led the local team’s batting effort.

In response, Wynberg comfortably chased down the target, reaching 88/3 in 13.1 overs to seal the win.

Persistent rainfall across the region left pitch and field conditions unplayable for several other local clubs.

Despite having their match called off, Somerset West CC earned enough points to advance to the First Division C Ama20 semi-finals.

Strand CC endured a frustrating weekend as wet conditions forced cancellations across all their scheduled matches. Hosting Fish Hoek CC at the Gustrouw Sports Ground, the match ended in a no-result with both teams splitting the points.

Strand CC’s first team will travel to face Mamre Hawks CC this coming weekend.
