The newly established Helderberg Community-oriented Project Service (Cops) was launched with a clean-up of Dam Park in Strand on Saturday (4 June). “Established in April, Helderberg Cops is not a political campaign, neighbourhood watch or security provider,” explained marketer Kat Sellers. “It aims to support unemployed youth.” The initiative was supported by Lisa Starr, founder of the Helderberg Ocean Awareness Movement (Hoam), who educated participants on the harmful effects of the waste collected on the environment. She implored locals to do their bit to help keep the park clean.
