On Saturday 2 November running and walking enthusiasts are invited to join Distance for Difference (D4D) at the picturesque Dornier Wines in Stellenbosch for The Gratitude Run 2024.
Enthusiasts are invited to “come and show your gratitude” for your health and your ability to run or walk. All proceeds, after direct expenses, will go towards D4D, a registered Section 21 company and NPO which raises funds for various children’s charities, including Tzadokah Foster Home, Sylvia Frank Foster Home, Kingdom Kids and Esther van Zyl Foster Care, to name a few.
You can choose one of three ways to participate: the 5 km fun run/walk open to young and old; the 10 km trail runl or the team relay run.
Entrants can either choose to run or walk the 5 km and set their own pace. Or, trail running enthusiasts can try out the 10 km trail run. It features a beautiful route and trails on Dornier Wine Estate, and promises to be an interesting mix. No children under the age of 14 will be allowed to participate in the trail run.
There’s also a team relay run, where runners enter as a team of three, four or preferably five members per team. Team members will run laps of 3 km each. The challenge for teams will be to complete as many 3 km laps as possible in the allotted time period – four hours, from 07:30 to 11:30.
Participating teams can nominate a team captain, decide on a cool name and theme, and take along along heaps of team spirit!
There will be three categories in this division to choose from: men-only, women-only or a mixed team.
Entrants are encouraged to involve non-runners, family, friends and companies by motivating them to sponsor your team.
It is all about team work and supporting your teammates, while they are soaking in the exquisite surrounds. There will be live music, prizes, lucky draws, enthusiastic athletes and sponsors supporting a worthy cause.
