The Somerset College class of 2020 upheld the school’s tradition by achieving a 100% bachelor degree pass rate during the Independent Examination Board (IEB) Senior Certificate examinations.

Despite challenges experienced last year, the college’s matrics produced an excellent set of results, which reflects positively on the hard work and commitment of learners and staff alike.

Graham Sayer, executive head of Somerset College, shared the following message with the matric class: “Congratulations on your results, which we hope will, together with the rest of your Somerset College experience, serve you exceedingly well in the lives that lie ahead of you. We wish you happy and fulfilling futures, and we hope that we will see you all again soon and often.”

The average number of distinctions for college learners over the past five years stands at three per student and confirms the school’s unwavering commitment to academic excellence. In addition, the consistently outstanding Cambridge AS and AL results, achieved every year since each level’s inception in the Cambridge stream, support the fact that Somerset College learners continue to deliver outstanding academic work.

Apart from the perfect IEB pass rate, the school also boasts a total of 261 A symbols for various subjects and 14 top 1% awards in specific IEB subjects. What’s more, a total of eight A symbols were achieved for mathematics in the IEB’s Advance Programme.
