Parel Vallei hockey coaches Michael van Rensburg and Jarred Pitout are ready to take the school’s hockey players to greater heights.

Two hockey coaches of Parel Vallei High School have been elected to serve on Boland hockey structures.

Michael van Rensburg and Jarred Pitout, fondly referred to as the JM hockey combo, will fly the PV flag as they serve the union as chairperson of Boland Hockey and deputy chairperson of Boland girls’ hockey, respectively.

Both coaches permanently joined PV at the start of the year. Pitout, who has been a part-time coach at the school since 2014, is the new head of sport and heads up the girls’ first team. Van Rensburg is a grade head, history teacher and head of boys’ hockey at PV.

Both are premier hockey coaches and players who have used the down-time brought on by lockdown to get to know players, draw up strategic plans and goals, and mentally prepare their teams for next season.

Together with the knowledge and experience of the current hockey coaches, the duo hopes to lead PV hockey with its gained strengths to position the school as one of the top five co-educational hockey schools in South Africa.

Van Rensburg and Pitout affirmed their goal is to form a lifelong foundation for hockey players at school level, so learners can continue with this sporting code even after finishing their school careers.
