Firstly, congratulations to Gordon’s Bay Pioneers for making it into the final of the Metro League.

The club, in its first season under the Gordon’s Pay Pioneers banner, has done extremely well to bring club rugby back to the Gordon’s Bay area and management committee members like Johan van Eeden, Lukas de Beer and Pine Pienaar deserve all the credit they are receiving.

Let’s have a look at this weekend’s fixtures:

) Gordon’s Bay Pioneers vs Fisantekraal – Gordon’s Bay

GBP have the opportunity to put the cherry on the cake with some silverware this season. We wish them all of the best in their quest to bring the trophy back to the Helderberg.

) St George’s vs Young Peoples – Gustrouw

The Lulus seem unstoppable after a wobbly start to the season. Young Peoples have also done well, after being the underdogs in Super League B (SLB) for many seasons.

It’s safe to say the home team will take this one and further secure their top five position in the league.

) All Saints vs Scottsdene-Central – Central Park

Saints travel to Scottsdene as favourites. Their away form has been magnificent, and the foundation of their top four log position. Scottsdene has the ability to choke the life out a contest if given the opportunity, but I’m sure All Saints will stick to their winning ways.

) Helderberg vs Busy Bees – Charles Morkel

As opposition, Berge has been a hurdle to high for all their opponents. A few injuries might hinder their progress and test their depth, but Bees won’t be able to offer much resistance over 80 minutes. Taking four points shouldn’t be seen as a failure. Berge’s unbeaten run will continue.

) Raithby vs Kraaifontein – Raithby

From here on out, every match is a final for RU. Unless they pick up a win soon, they will be dependant on too many other results to survive in Super C. Kraaifontein could be just too strong for the hosts, unless all Raithby players realise the urgency of their situation.

) Macassar vs Rangers – Surrey Estate

The MC Boys come off a loss to Kraaifontein and now face a Rangers hurdle most have failed to overcome. Macassar are a solid unit and could be the home side’s stiffest test, but going to Surrey Estate to face a confident Rangers could be unpleasant.

) Sir Lowrians vs Excelsior – Cloetesville

The Navy Train need to win this fixture to secure a top nine promotion spot. Excelsior are at the bottom of the Northern League, but have 142 years of pride to defend. This will be a tricky excursion for Sir Lowrians.

) Strand United vs Strand – Abattoir

This fixture has been postponed to Saturday 16 July.
