For five decades Helderberg College church has stood as a spiritual beacon in the basin, a place where faith, friendship, music, education and service has touched generations of lives.

The sanctuary of the Seventh-day Adventist church was completed and dedicated in Spring 1976. “Fifty Years of Grace” mark a remarkable journey of faith and the enduring partnership among the church, Helderberg College of Higher Education and the wider community.

Over the years the church has welcomed students, families, academics, professionals, young people and senior citizens through its doors, continuing to provide a place for worship, encouragement, meaningful relationships and practical service.

“Fifty Years of Grace” is a celebration of people. In celebration of the jubilee a series of special events and services will take place over the weekend of Friday 25 and Saturday 26 September.

The festivities kick off with a music concert, It’s Your Song, Lord, on Friday at 19:00. The main event on Saturday features a historical overview of the past 50 years, presented by pastor Hein von Hörsten and elder Kevin Burge at 09:30.

The divine service at 11:00 will be delivered by pastor Morné Fürstenburg. At the 15:00 service Roné Fürstenburg and former pastor Brian Sterley will focus on evangelism and future outreach initiatives.

Whether you have been part of Helderberg College Church for 50 years, five years or have never crossed its threshold, you are warmly invited to join the celebration. Visitors and members alike will discover a community where the story of the past points towards an exciting future.
