Music, games, food, raffles and just some good old family fun were the order of the day at the morning market hosted by St Andrew’s Anglican church in Strand on Saturday (2 December). The market was preceded by a fun walk, which saw both young and old participate and walk away with a medal, and it featured a few beauty competitions including Glamorous Granny and Miss and Master St Andrew’s. Apart from browsing stalls for bric-a-brac and quality pre-loved clothing items while enjoying a festive atmosphere, market-goers could indulge in delicious eats and treats, including chicken fresh off the grill, a serving of potjiekos, burger and chips, braaied fish and salad, cake and desserts available at the tea garden set-up in the church hall.Photos: Jamey Gordon

Pictured are Reverends Ntsiki Fani and Delmaine Petersen with Dorothy Adams at the memorabilia table, where specially printed items marking the church’s 100th anniversary were available to purchase.

Souvenirs on offer included mugs, glasses, caps, T-shirts, fridge magnets, coasters, sling bags and hand towels.

Trezinha and Ricardo Naidoo manned the bric-a-brac stall, where anything from second-hand clothes to televisions and curtains were sold at giveaway prices.

The candy table for children tagging along to the market proved to be a hit with Jadon Langford, Othniel Plaatjies, Connor and Tatiana Naidoo, and Grace and Aneeqah October.

The tea garden with scrumptious sweet delights was manned by the avid baker Linda October (far right) and her fairy helpers Nikita and Anita de Lange, Jessi Simons, Kyla de Lange and Michele Simons.
