The City of Cape Town’s Film Office is inviting filmmakers to apply for support for their projects to be completed in the 2024-’25 financial year.
The newly established Film Support Fund aims to finance or provide municipal services for film projects produced in Cape Town, including short films, feature films, music videos, commercials and reality TV series.
The fund seeks to support productions that drive local economic development, create job opportunities, and support emerging film and media talent through upskilling and training initiatives.
JP Smith, Mayoral Committee member for Safety and Security, emphasised that the fund aims to reduce production costs and help the local film industry attract international work, supporting an industry that already creates more than 30 000 jobs and attracts direct investment in Cape Town.
