The newly established Helderbosch Unit affiliated to the South African Defence Force Association (SADFA) will host a meeting for local military veterans on Monday 13 June.

The gathering, which includes a Q&A session, will take place at the Dutch Reformed church at 21 Alex Pienaar Street with SADFA chairperson Johann du Preez as guest.

The Helderbosch Unit’s Adjutant Herman Brummer said all military veterans, who should be acknowledged for their contribution to the development of the country, are welcome. “These men and women have made sacrifices and served their country with honour and dignity,” he said. “People who served their country unselfishly deserve to be recognised, remembered and be taken care of.”

SADFA was established in February 2009 with the sole purpose of acknowledging veterans and the role they played. The Helderbosch Unit supports military veterans in Stellenbosch, Somerset West, Strand and Gordon’s Bay.
