“Minquiz” is an annual national science competition for Grade 12 learners, which aims to promote interest and careers in science, engineering and technology, and to provide an insight into Mintek’s role in the mineral technology field.

This year, Stellenbosch University hosted the competition and Team Parel Vallei, presented by Dean João, Michelle Cousins, Olivia Impson and Daniel Haupt did exceptionally well in the platinum category, achieving an overall second position in the Western Cape.

South Africa College High School (SACS) won the competition and Herzlia High School placed third.

Special mention must also be made of Daniel, who received a certificate for excellence from Mintek for his outstanding contribution to the competition.

PV’s science department received a cash prize in recognition of its achievement.
