Police members attached to the Provincial Investigation Unit (PIC) seized several hunting rifles, ammunition and three pistols which were found at a residence in Bridgewater, Somerset West, on Thursday 19 October. The bust comes after officers followed up on a tip-off of firearms on the premises at 06:00. The person at the house did not have a licence for the firearms. Police reacted swiftly to prevent the firearms reaching the wrong hands. By the time of going to print, no arrests had been made and an enquiry was registered for further investigation. Somerset West Police Station commander Colonel Jacolize Fleischmann commended the team for their swift reaction and thanked the community for the information.
