Baby sanctuary gets boost

The women’s self-defence event hosted by Futurama Retail Ltd was a roaring success, raising over R6 000 for the Heartlands Baby Sanctuary in Somerset West. The event took place on Thursday 29 August at Willow Way Fitness to close off Women’s Month (“Kicking up a gear,” DistrictMail & Helderberg Gazette, 21 August). The evening saw Futurama Retail Ltd smash previous attendance records as women flocked to support the worthy cause. On Monday 9 September the Futurama Retail Ltd team handed a cheque over to founder and CEO Monica Buitendag, who was ecstatic to receive the much-needed donation. She said the funds will go towards necessities for the children and to cover operational costs of the temporary residential safe-care facility.
