The North West School of Design and Gert-Johan Coetzee again launched it annual bursary programme to give two creatives the chance to complete their studies at the Coetzee’s alma mater.

The decorated designer first launched the programme in 2009. Ten 10 finalists from across the country finalists are chosen, followed by telephonic and personal interviews.

Coetzee selects two winners, who will commence their 2022 studies commencing next January. Inclusive of the bursary is guidance by the principal and Coetzee overseeing the development of creatives through mentorship and internships at his studio.

Previous winners of the bursary are employed in various sectors of the fashion industry, mass-production at factories, assistant designers, studio managers, owners of their own shops, retail industry specialists and fashion lecturers. The two bursary recipients will be announced during an annual fashion event at the school in November.
