“You are capable of great things, but if your mind is a prison you will also be limited to the life you are living. If you turn your mind into a palace you will set yourself up for success and growth. Don’t settle where you are. Go for the life you want and start by getting your mindset on-board.”

With this message expert motivator Lucia Dramat encourages working professionals to take control of their mental state and gear up for pursuing greater heights by proactively being the driving force behind their success.

Reminded of the profound impact mental well-being has on every facet of life in light of Mental Health Month, the working spouse and mom of three boys who serve as inspiration for doing it all, partnered with various local organisations eager to invest in the mental health of their employees and in turn their continued business success.

The motivational speaker and life coach offered a World Mental Health Day (Tuesday 10 October) session entitled, “The power of your mindset”.

The 20- to 30-minute session aimed to equip employees with the necessary tools to improve mindset management – emotions, perceptions, stress management, beliefs about self and more – in an engaging, lighthearted and relatable manner.

“Our employees are the lifeblood of organisations, whether customer-centred or product-driven,” Dramat said. “When organisations invest in the well-being of employees they invest in the very heartbeat of their success.”

She said such sessions put people on a journey of self-discovery and mindset re-mapping, giving a basic understanding of how influential one’s mindset is over one’s life. “Once people understand this they start to get excited because they realise things could be different if they chose to create some change. Sometimes people have a victim mindset and are sometimes too fearful to take any risks, or they are stuck but don’t know why. Or, they think they are confident but aren’t, just comfortable speaking to people. Realising one can be happier and more confident living a life that is different from what one has known is empowering.”

Dramat says a positive mindset boosts resilience, perspective and an ability to see hidden opportunities. Also, better sleep, eased depression and anxiety, and navigating difficult situations better.

“Your thoughts can rob you of all joy, make you anxious and fearful, or it can empower you, excite you and allow you to feel good. A positive mindset can have a huge impact.”

Regarding her role as facilitator, she said: “As a motivational speaker, author and coach I have spent the past decade focusing on empowering and equipping individuals to elevate their mindsets and improve their lives. Apart from my studies in public relations, certificate in ministry and life coaching courses, I bring my energy, stories and South African style to the table.”

Dramat guaranteed people will walk away with a fresh perspective, feeling inspired, more self-aware with renewed hope for their own growth.
