The Mother City is geared up to celebrate Mother’s Day with the eighth edition of the Absa Run Your City Cape Town 10K, taking place on Sunday 14 May.
With elite local athletes competing against the world’s best on home-soil, the road running race celebrates everything Cape Town – the vibe, the beautiful city and the people.
More than 10 000 participants can look forward to an experience that boasts a majestic view of Table Mountain, a feel good vibe, refreshments, exciting activations and some epic entertainment along the route.
“The City of Cape Town is very happy to be included as a host city of this vibrant running series that brings together the local and international running community and encourages runners of all fitness levels to take part,” said Mayoral Committee Member for Safety and Security JP Smith. “We’re looking forward to the growth of the Absa Run Your City Cape Town 10K and the many opportunities it presents for Cape Town including job creation, increased tourism to our city and attracting business for local suppliers.”
A day before the iconic event, Saturday (13 May), Capetonians are also invited to join the Absa Run Your City Cape Town 10K organisers, sponsors and partners at a fun “City Clean Up” that will start at the Absa Branch in Adderley Street at 08:30.The route and road closures
Starting at Woodbridge Island in Milnerton, runners will be guided along the coastline on Marine Drive before looping on the ramp onto the N1 until they reach the bustling City Bowl and head for the finish line in Lower Long Street.
To accommodate the festivities of this race a number of roads will be closed on both Saturday and Sunday. Motorists are advised to take note of the temporary road closures that will be in place over the weekend and to plan their trips accordingly.Parking
There is ample parking in the city surrounding the Grand Parade and finish area.
Participants are urged to park their vehicles and make their way to Grand Parade and get onto the MyCiTi buses which will transport them to the start at Woodbridge Island, Milnerton.
