Local firefighter Joswin Lameyer (pictured) was one of two who unexpectedly helped deliver a baby when a woman in labour arrived at Mfuleni Fire Station. Although paramedics were called the baby was delivered before their arrival, with Lameyer and Khuselo Blaai receiving guidance via phone from an Ambulance Emergency Assistant. Together they safely delivered a healthy baby boy, clamped and cut the umbilical cord, and then transported the mother and baby to a health facility. This heart-warming event marked a joyful start to the festive season, showcasing the firefighters’ quick thinking and skills. Congratulations are extended to the new mother, her baby and the firefighters involved. The Helderberg basin is extremely proud of Lameyer, who serves the community as a firefighter at the Sir Lowry’s Pass Fire Station.
