It is believed a boat, carrying two fishermen, capsized this morning.

Authorities are on the scene of a suspected drowning in Strand after a boat capsized earlier this morning (Friday 19 October).

It is believed two fishermen were out fishing when their boat capsized in rough waters. One of the men apparently swam to shore at Strand Beach, while authorities are still searching for the second man. The boat has also not been retrieved.

The identities of the men are not known at this stage.

Officers of Strand police and the police’s Diving Unit, as well as Secure Rite armed response officers are on the scene. Members of the Gordon’s Bay NSRI also assisted with the search, which was apparently halted due to murky waters.

The search will be resumed once sea conditions improve. – DistrictMail
