False Bay High School held its annual prize giving ceremony, which honoured the academic achievements of the high school learners, on Wednesday 8 December.
The event is one of the most important days in the school’s calendar for both teachers and learners in Grade 8 to 11. Before the top academic learners for 2021 were presented with their awards, they were addressed by principal Herman Janse van Rensburg, who emphasised that the ceremony celebrated the assiduousness and hard work of the learners in all subjects.
“The school’s annual prize-giving ceremony is that moment of the year in which we recognise our top achievers as well as encouraging others to take their studies seriously, so that next year they could be counted among outstanding learners,” he said.
Mieke-Jade Murray was honoured as the top Grade 11 learner for the year, while Grade 9 learner Teagan Wentzel’s achievement of 100% for the accounting component of her final EMS exam also earned her an award.
