At least 200 children received much needed school shoes during the first week of opening by the Libra Trust, a project spearheaded annually by Peter Peterson as a means of remembering his daughter, Tracey Agram.
She died in 2015 and was very involved in assisting underprivileged children. Perpetuating her passion served to remind him of her selflessness and keep her memory alive.
He described his daughter as humble and passionate about children and was devastated at her death from a heart attack.
Last Thursday (20 January) Agram’s joyful spirit was clearly seen in the eyes of numerous children who were jubilant at not being forgotten.
Learners of ACJ Phakade received shoes, bags and uniforms, before trips were made to Rusthof Primary and Dr GJ Joubert Primary School for additional handovers. “I come from a disadvantaged background myself and this is a matter close to my heart. I feel privileged to be able to do this for four years now and hopefully it will inspire others to do the same,” said Petersen.
