The special friendship Kesha Terblanche and Caitlin Tobias shares is among the various guises of love visualised in a beautiful mural on exhibition at Somerset Mall in celebration of the Month of Love.
The mural, or “The Wall of Love”, celebrates love in all its forms, what it looks like today and the different meanings it holds for different people. It forms part of a nationwide public engagement entitled “This is Love”, launched by Hyprop Investments across its eight shopping centres from Friday 4 to Monday 14 February.
The retail-focused real-estate investment trust engaged digital artist Mignon Rochato, who visualised love by “adding a little colour to this sometimes monochrome world we live in”.
The work of art was transposed into a paint-by-numbers mural, which was erected at the shopping centres and engaged shoppers and businesses who brought the colour with their creative flair.
The photo above of a couple of friends who work as Somerset Mall promoters was captured this past Monday as they completed the mural, which depicts six kinds of positive love, including eros (romantic and passionate), storge (familial love and natural affection), philia (platonic, friendship), agape (divine love, a meeting of souls), xenia (hospitality, guest love) and philautic (self-love).
Visitors to the local mall are asked to share their stories and photos of love and continue spreading the love until month-end.
Somerset Mall, as with all the other shopping centres, will have a variety of competitions and incentives to encourage this.
