A burnt-out vehicle and charred remains of an occupant was discovered just off the R44 this morning (Thursday).
The identity of the deceased is not known and the circumstances which led to the apparent accident, which presumably occurred last night or during the early hours, are yet to be established.
Police have urged members of the public to come forward with information which could help identify the victim and provide insight as to what may have happened.
Authorities were alerted to the scene after passersby made the discovery around 10:00.
It is suspected that the vehicle, a red Volkswagen Citi Golf veered off the road and crashed over a barricade before landing in a ditch, where it presumably caught alight.
