Gordon’s Bay police, to mark Child Protection Week (Sunday 29 May to 5 June), initiated an awareness campaign targeted at schools with a focus on teen pregnancy. Visits with special addresses and educational activities were made to Gordon’s Bay Primary School, Temperance Town Primary School and Goeie Hoop Child and Youth Care Centre, where a fun-filled programme championed by Sergeant Jeremiah Naidoo was enjoyed by many youngsters on Saturday (4 June). Guests included the officer’s family, his wife Ladine and sons Jarrian and Landon, Charlize Stols (who engaged the children in a special address as a medical professional), Marc Quinn (Gordon’s Bay Neighbourhood Watch), naval Captain Antoinette Fester and Wayne and Bernadette Duddy of Reality Learning, all of whom contributed to the event’s success.
