Somerset West rally driver Llewellyn Jones and his navigator Christophé Pichon dominated the Western Province Motor Club All Tar Rally at the Killarney International Raceway on Saturday 6 August.

The pair’s CEJ Plant Hire 434 CPMCC S5 Subaru Impreza WRX STi 2.0 Turbo 4×4 claimed victory ahead of Owen Jones and Aden Bredenkamp in their Somerset West Subaru 454 CPMCC S5 Subaru Impreza WRX STi 2.0 Turbo 4×4.

Inus du Plessis and Piet Carinus, also from the Helderberg, were in third place in their L&M Auto Stellenbosch tweaked Coastal Tool Hire Somerset West 461 CPMCC S4 BMW E36 328i.

The Challenge category was led home by Faizal Jacobs and Tyler Bailey, followed by Trevor Hutchings and Layne Hutchings in second place, and Dexter Bruce and Junaid Hamid in third.

The race is a deceptively tough round on the annual Western Cape Rally Championship calendar as it requires a pretty flat-out approach from everyone that hopefully will now grow in stature as the Western Province Motor Club returns as organiser of the event.

The concept of rally versus track versus rally X holds much potential once all parties realise the attraction this will have with an appreciative audience.

The final round of the Western Cape Club Rally Championship will be held in Riebeek Kasteel on Saturday 24 September.
