Macassar police are investigating a case of public violence case after community members allegedly threatened to set the police station alight during an operation in the area.
The incident occurred at 08:30 on Sunday (25 September), after members of the Provincial Operations Command Centre followed up on information regarding illegal firearms and drugs.
A Macassar police spokesperson said community members were upset, and apparently started throwing stones at police officers and their vehicles as they conducted the investigation.
The police managed to arrest two suspects, a 36-year-old and 22-year-old male, whom they charged with public violence.
Afterwards, community members threatened to burn the police station down.
No-one was injured in the incident.
